Emeritus Professor Patricia Radelet de Grave [Lecturer International Summer School, Belgium]
Patricia Radelet de Grave is Emeritus Professor of History of Physics at the Catholic University of Louvain la Neuve. She is a physicist and used to teach history of mathematics and physics to mathematicians, physicists, engineers and architects at the catholic university of Louvain la Neuve. Since 2001, she is General Editor of the Bernoulli Edition. Her main interests are the relations between mathematics and physics that she studied for example through the interactions between the concept of vector and that of force or between the mathematical concept of field and that physical of electromagnetic field. With the late Edoardo Benvenuto (Genova) she published Between mechanics and architecture and with Jean Dhombres (Paris CNRS) Une mécanique donnée à voir, les theses illustrées défendues agrave; Louvain en juillet 1624 par Grégoire de Saint-Vincent S.J. (in De diversis artibus, collection of studies from the international Academy of the History of Science). She published more than one hundred articles.
At the University of Louvain she founded the Centre de recherches interfacultaire en histoire des sciences, which gathers mathematicians, physicists, historians, philosophers, geologists etc., interested in history of sciences. She is treasurer of the international Academy of History of Science.
