Michael Segre is Professor of History of Science at the “Gabriele D’Annunzio University” in Chieti. 

He has studied physics and philosophy, taught for many years at the University of Munich and has been Fellow of the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at Villa I Tatti, Florence. 

Michael segre is author of over one hundred publications, among them his book In the Wake of Galileo on Galileo’s followers and his recent Higher Education and the Growth of Knowledge.  He has written several articles analysing and criticising John Paul II’s so-called “Rehabilitation Speech” on Galileo as confused and unsatisfactory.
